The Relay for Life to benefit the American Cancer Society took place in Clio, Michigan, May 21 and 22. According to Sister Kathy Lange, captain of "Angels Walking," a team representing SS. Charles and Helena Catholic Church, "we had a very successful Relay, even though we were washed out." Rain on Friday evening after the Survivor ceremony and walk flooded the campsite. Lightning and thunder prompted police to advise participants to move to the Carter Middle School for the luminary ceremony. A PowerPoint presentation displayed names on a screen. The rain soaked luminary bags remained on the soaked track. "Our spirits weren't dampened, however, and we started again on Saturday morning at the Clio City Park," Sister said. This year Angels Walking chose a Hawaiian theme and raised just under $10,000, putting them on top for team money raisers.
