Good Neighboring Lake Providence 2010
Students from UW-Stout, Menomonie, WI, joined forces with the Holy Cross Sisters, associates, and friends in making the "Good Neighboring Trip," to Lake Providence, LA, a success. While in Lake Providence, the group worked on various homes, repairing, painting inside and outside, removing trash etc. The trip took place from March 20-27, made possible in part by the Formation and Ministry Enablement Fund of the Holy Cross Sisters, along with donations from other individuals and corporations such as Greenheck Fan Corporation of Schofield, WI.
Students departed from Menomonie, WI, on March 20, and arrived in Lake Providence on March 21.

It began nine years ago for Mike and myself, to just taking a break from the long Wisconsin winters. Thanks to the Holy Cross Sisters' support for this project in Louisiana, we now know what people talk about when they discuss they had a 'calling.' We celebrated a 90th birthday with Miss Washington, friends and fellow workers while in Louisiana. Her home was the first one we worked on nine years ago and we never dreamed when we started that we would make such friendships. Although we have lost some of the friends we have made, their wisdom and spirit remain with us. God willing and we are still able, we will continue our annual trek to northern Louisiana to share the blessings God has given us.
