Sister Anita Wolf was honored at a retirement party on November 11, at the Clare Center in Merrill, WI. The Board of Directors and the volunteers of the Merrill Community Food Pantry sponsored the occasion to honor Sister for her exceptional service to the Merrill community as Manager of the Food Pantry.
"As I resign from my duties as Food Pantry Manager, I feel a lot of gratitude to our many supporters. I wish great success and continued support to Denis Mc Carthy, who will replace me," Sister Anita said.
She was asked how she measures success at the food pantry,"We could point out that we have given food this year to over 3,000 persons, but the real mark of success, for me, lies somewhere else. It is spelled out more explicitly in the good people who respond so generously time and again to give a helping hand to our neighbors in need. They are our churches, schools, individuals and businesses. Merrill Area United Way and Good Samaritan Foundation have helped in significant ways, but other heroes include our many faithful volunteers and board members," Sister said.
Many years earlier, Sister Anita served as the Administrator of Holy Cross Hospital in Merrill from 1959 to 1966. She also served in administrative positions at Catholic facilities at Dickinson, North Dakota. Since her retirement, she has served as Manager of the Community Food Pantry. Her retirement is necessitated by health issues. According to Rev. Dale and Jackie Kuck, "The entire Merrill community is grateful for her dedication to those in need."
