Toward the Yearly Letter of 2008

S. Louise-Henri Kolly, Ingebohl

"Trust in God, He leads you!"

With these words of Father Theodosius we shall walk the ways of the near year which is both, the year of the general chapter and the jubilee year of Fr. Theodosius.

Exactly two hundred years have passed since our founder was born. Let us believe that God never ceases to seek new ways to reach us, to reach people! If, after the memorable celebrations surrounding the one hundred fiftieth jubilee of our Institute we do not plan any bigger external celebrations to commemorate this event, we will all the more cultivate and "interior celebration of the heart." The year 2008 invites us to thank God, to return to the sources of our personal vocation, to read a biography of Father Theodosius with emphasis on trust, to meditate on the history of our congregation, to continue the study of our charism and to interiorize the message of the yearly letter.

When pondering over the theme of the so-called "Yearly Letter," I asked myself, "What has marked the spirituality and the life of Father Theodosius more than anything else? What was it that made the gigantic work of this extraordinary personality possbile?" When I reflect on his life, his work, his daring spirit and his sayings, I come time and gain across his attitude of trust.

The person who trusts is a person of prauer, a person living in constant relationship with God. Father Theodosius, this extremely active man, often ont he road, constantly searching, planning and inventing, could say of himself: "I am occupied with God by day and by night, in Him I move and live."

The life of Father Theodosius encourages us to trust. It show us the way to an engaged and responsibly lived hope - a hope that consistsin placing one's trust totally in God, while doing "what lies in our own strength." (Mother M. Theresa)
